Fantastic!!Sep 22, 2001
I just got my copy of this latest compilation of Elvis love songs, and this is a real treat, folks!! With the exception of "She wears my ring" and a handful of others, this is really Elvis the balladeer as we would really like to remember him. A few tracks are sorely missed, as it is the case with "Memories" and "Hurt", and there's a couple of others I would have not chosen for this particular CD, like "You've lost that loving feeling" - whose bombastic approach derails the listener from the overall "soft" nature of most of the songs found therein- but, on the whole, this wonderful CD is a clear, unequivocal reminder to those with little knowledge of Presley's uncanny attributes as a balladeer (applicable to most of today's singers) that they all have a lot to learn from him, not merely as a rocker, gospel, C&W, or pop singer, but as a singer of love songs as well. Buy it, and you may also learn something..

The best compilation of Elvis love songsMar 01, 2005
By Peter Durward Harris
"Pete the music fan"
There have been several compilations of Elvis love songs but I think this is the best. Several of the songs selected are the obvious classics that will be forever associated with Elvis (even if one or two of them were previously recorded by other singers) - these include Are you lonesome tonight, Can't help falling in love, Always on my mind, It's now or never, Love me tender, A fool such as I, The wonder of you and There goes my everything.
There also some classic Elvis songs that aren't always selected for compilations of this type (She's not you, Good luck charm) as well as covers of songs generally associated with other singers, but which Elvis sing superbly. These include Hawaiian wedding song, Spanish eyes, You've lost that loving feeling, Make the world go away, Let it be me, And I love you so, You don't have to say you love me and Unchained melody.
As well as the obvious hits and covers, this album also contains some great songs that are not well known - songs like Thrill of your love and Pocketful of rainbows, which will be new to most buyers of this collection.
This is as near to the perfect compilation of Elvis love songs that you are ever likely to find. Even this isn't absolutely perfect - it features Old Shep, which is a great song (actually one of my favorite Elvis recordings) but it doesn't really belong here even though I know that most people love their dogs. Don't let that put you off - if you want a collection of this type, buy it anyway.

Great collection of many of Elvis' love songs (or slower songs). Album one is the early Elvis, while Album 2 is the older, Vegas-style Elvis. Together, they offer a good look at these different stages in his muscial career, which offer very disparate styles. And with 50 songs, this pretty much covers all of the "love" songs Elvis had, so it's a fairly definitive collection. For that reason, it's a great buy.

50 Elvis Love Songs Can't Be WrongMay 08, 2004
By anthony nasti An idea that looked great on paper that sounds great on cd. 50 of The King's greatest love songs. With so many Elvis collections out there, there are only a few that are essential. This is one of them.Disc 1 of this 2 - disc set features music mostly from the later period, but includes earlier classics "It's Now Or Never", "Surrender" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight". My favorite songs here include "It's Impossible", "I've Lost You" and the majestic wedding staple "The Wonder Of You". Also, don't overlook his mesmerizing covers of the standards "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", "Spanish Eyes' and "Make The World Go Away". Their just as electrifying as any other version. Disc 2 is from the early years. There are classics here like "Can't Help Falling In Love". Two tracks that I really liked are "I'll Rember You" and his version of Ray Charles' "You Don't Know Me". And don't overlook "Girl Of My Bst Friend" and "Don't" - romantic ballads at their best. This is a great collection. RCA really knows their stuff.

Comprehensive and refreshing...Apr 30, 2005
By Monika that is the best way to describe this CD set. I just can't stop listening to it. Not only does it include some of his classic oldies, but it also includes many songs from the later years that are not as easy to find. In addition, a few of the songs are from live performances and, in my opinion, that just increases the value of this set. Now that I own it, I would have paid a lot more for it if I had to! It's a must-have.
